Westwood Debate and Speech Program

Westwood Debate and Speech Program

The Debate and Speech Program has a long and varied history at Westwood.  What started as a program for Policy Debaters (CX) only, with students who wanted to pursue other types of debate doing so on their own, expanded to include Lincoln-Douglas (LD), Public Forum (PF), and both Foreign and Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking (FX and DX) under the Directorship of Ruishi Wang.  With the inclusion of all types of debate, the program continued to grow and flourish, developing a national reputation as a result.  Each year more than 150 students participate in the Speech and Debate Program.
